Right now, our food system is shaped by inequity and fueled by policies that prioritize corporate interest, big agriculture, and monopolies on our food system—but it doesn’t have to be. Across Colorado, people are coming together to demand something better: a system where everyone has access to nutritious, culturally relevant food, where workers are treated fairly, and where communities have the power to shape decisions.

That's why we're excited to endorse values-aligned food justice champions who are dedicated to building powerful, people-centered, and sustainable local food systems.

Our 2026 Endorsements

Phil Weiser for Governor

We are proud to endorse Phil Weiser for Governor of Colorado. As Attorney General, he has been a fierce advocate for consumer protections, defending democracy and protecting Coloradans from federal overreach and retaliation. Phil Weiser also stood up and fought to block the grocery store merger of Albertsons and Kroger, which would have driven up grocery prices, harmed workers, and left Coloradans with fewer options for buying food.

Further, as Attorney General, Weiser has worked to protect access to critical public benefits for our communities by suing the federal government for; attempting to cut off access to billions in child care and cash assistance for low-income families; issuing unlawful recertification requirements for SNAP that would have kicked off thousands of eligible SNAP recipients; and issuing an extremely dangerous overreaching new Public Charge rules that will have devastating impacts on mixed status families across the state.

We believe Phil Weiser will continue his bold and visionary leadership to build a Colorado where everyone can thrive and a food system that honors the people who tend to it, the communities nourished by it, and the planet that provides for us.

Melat Kiros for Congressional District 1

We’re excited to endorse Melat Kiros for Congressional District 1! Melat Kiros attended our Food Justice Forum and shared her clear vision for building an accessible and affordable Colorado for all by pushing back against cuts to critical programs like SNAP and Medicaid and advocating for real, comprehensive, and universal solutions to end hunger.

Melat’s platform recognizes that everyone deserves access to the resources they need to thrive, including healthcare, affordable childcare, and the ability to put food on the table. Her support for Medicare for All and universal childcare reflects a commitment to policies that put people first and address the rising costs that force too many families to make impossible choices between their basic needs.

We believe Melat Kiros will be a strong champion for food justice and for building a future where everyone has access to nourishing food, families can thrive, and communities have the resources and power to shape the systems that affect their lives.
